In addition to Verdal IL, 25 other teams from 8 different countries played in A - Gutter 11-er, 17 år. They were divided into 6 different groups, whereof Verdal IL could be found in Group 2 together with Sædalen IL, Egernförde UF, Eid IL and Rælingen 2.

Verdal IL made it to Playoff A after reaching 1:st place in Group 2. Once in the playoff they made it all the way to the Final, but lost it against Bremnes IL with 0-3. Thereby Verdal IL finished second in A 17 Playoff A during Norway Cup 2016.
