Hakunamatata was one of 284 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Åhus Beachhandboll Festival 2017. They participated with one team in Öppen klass Herrar.

They were divided into 4 different groups, whereof Hakunamatata could be found in Group 3 together with IFK Kristianstad 2, Böffes jr, Vallentuna HK Stockholm Jarå!, Kärleken boys, Div2podden, Västkustsk hästkusk HL and Back in the days. Hakunamatata continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 2:nd place in Group 3. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Kryssjägarna HK with 5-6. In the Final, Mormors pojkar won over Kärleken boys and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Öppen klass Herrar. Hakunamatata comes from Furulund which lies approximately 76 km from Åhus, where Åhus Beachhandboll Festival takes place.
