In addition to the three Ystads teams, 41 other teams played in Pojkar 2006 D1. They were divided into 4 different groups, whereof Ystads IF HF 1 could be found in Group 4 together with Åhus Handboll 1, Karlskrona Handboll 2, Tollarps IF, Vinslövs HK 2, IFK Kristianstad 4, Önnereds HK Gbg, IF Guif Eskilstuna 1, LVHK Lödde 3, Ljunghusens HK 2 and Halmstad Handboll 2.

Ystads IF HF 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 3:rd place in Group 4. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Trelleborg HBK 2 with 4-5. In the Final, H43 Lund 1 won over Åhus Handboll 2 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2006 D1.
