In addition to the two IFK Malmö teams, 57 other teams played in Pojkar 2002. They were divided into 6 different groups, whereof IFK Malmö HF 1 could be found in Group 3 together with IK Sävehof P03 Boysen, Hammarby IF HF 2, Lugi HF, Torslanda HK Blå, Raklev G&I HF Kalundborg 2, Ystads IF HF 2, Uppsala HK Snabba fötter, IFK Kristianstad 3 and Halmstad Handboll 2.

IFK Malmö HF 1 continued to B-Slutspel after reaching 7:th place in Group 3. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against H43 Lund HF 2 P03 with 10-13. In the Final, Ystads IF HF 3 won over Alingsås HK 3 and became the winner of B-Slutspel in Pojkar 2002.
