In addition to Japan, 11 other teams from 11 different countries played in Women. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Japan could be found in Women Pool C together with Turkey, Russia, Australia, Israel and Sweden.
Japan continued to Playoff A after reaching 3:rd place in Women Pool C. In the playoff they made it to 1/4 Final, but lost it against Canada with 2-3. In the Final, Russia won over Turkey and became the winner of Playoff A in Women.
