In addition to Huddinge HK Sthlm, 23 other teams played in Herrar Junior 96-98. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Huddinge HK Sthlm could be found in Group 1 together with Åhus Handboll 1, Halmstad Handboll, IFK Kristianstad 2, IFK Tumba Sthlm, Kävlinge HK, H 65 Höör 2, Uppsala HK 1, HK Ankaret, Ystads IF HF, Karlskrona Handboll and HK Hök Laholm.

Huddinge HK Sthlm continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 5:th place in Group 1. In the playoff they made it to Semi final, but lost it against Halmstad Handboll with 7-13. In the Final, IFK Kristianstad 1 won over Halmstad Handboll and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Herrar Junior 96-98.
