In addition to the two Lugi teams, 38 other teams played in Herrar Junior 97-99. They were divided into 4 different groups, whereof Lugi HF 1 could be found in Group 2 together with Rørby-Værslev IF (DK), H 65 Höör 1, IK Sävehof Partille, Ystads IF HF, Uppsala HK 1, Vadstena HF, Halmstad Handboll 1, IFK Tumba Sthlm 2 and Åhus Handboll 2.

Lugi HF 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 2:nd place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Vinslövs HK with 8-9. In the Final, HK Ankaret Bjärred won over Ystads IF HF and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Herrar Junior 97-99.
