In addition to the two Karlskrona teams, 57 other teams played in Pojkar 2002. They were divided into 6 different groups, whereof Karlskrona Handboll 1 could be found in Group 4 together with IK Bolton Skanstull, HK Aranäs 1, Eskilstuna Guif IF, H43 Lund HF 2 P03, IK Sävehof 2, Åhus Handboll 2, Lödde Vikings HK 2, Ljunghusens HK and Trelleborg Handbollsklubb.

Karlskrona Handboll 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 5:th place in Group 4. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against Ystads IF HF 1 with 9-12. In the Final, IK Sävehof 2 won over Tyresö Handboll and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2002.
