In addition to the two LUGI teams, 48 other teams played in Pojkar 2000 A1. They were divided into 5 different groups, whereof LUGI HF 1 could be found in Group 3 together with Karlskrona Handboll 2, IF Guif Eskilstuna, Eslövs HF 2, Enköpings HF 2, Alingsås HK, Tyresö Handboll, Åhus Handboll 2, Ystads IF HF 1 and Täby HBK Sthlm.

LUGI HF 1 made it to A-Slutspel after reaching 1:st place in Group 3. Once in the playoff they won every match inluding the Final against H43 Lund 1, which they won with 12-11. Thereby LUGI HF 1 won the entire A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2000 A1 during Åhus Beachhandboll Festival 2016.
