In addition to the two Lugi teams, 68 other teams played in Pojkar 2002 B1. They were divided into 7 different groups, whereof Lugi HF 2 could be found in Group 3 together with Eslövs HF 3, HK Silwing/Troja Sthlm, Kristianstad HK 1, HK Guldkroken Hjo, Kävlinge HK 1, Halmstad Handboll 2, Ystads IF HF 1, Hultsfreds HF and Uppsala HK 2.

Lugi HF 2 made it to B-Slutspel after reaching 5:th place in Group 3. Once in the playoff they won every match inluding the Final against H 65 Höör, which they won with 17-16. Thereby Lugi HF 2 won the entire B-Slutspel in Pojkar 2002 B1 during Åhus Beachhandboll Festival 2016.
