In addition to the two Kristianstad teams, 18 other teams played in Damer Junior 96-98. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Kristianstad HK 1 could be found in Group 2 together with Eslövs IK, Trelleborg HBK, Borlänge HK, H 65 Höör 2, Halmstad Handboll 1, Gustavsbergs IF HK, IK Lågan Hörby, H43 Lund 2 and Åhus Handboll.

Kristianstad HK 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 3:rd place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to 1/4 Final, but lost it against H 65 Höör 1 with 8-9. In the Final, H 65 Höör 1 won over H43 Lund 1 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Damer Junior 96-98.
