In addition to Åhus Handboll, 19 other teams played in Damer Junior 96-98. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll could be found in Group 2 together with Eslövs IK, Trelleborg HBK, Kristianstad HK 1, Borlänge HK, H 65 Höör 2, Halmstad Handboll 1, Gustavsbergs IF HK, IK Lågan Hörby and H43 Lund 2.

Åhus Handboll continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 1:st place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to Semi final, but lost it against H 65 Höör 1 with 4-8. In the Final, H 65 Höör 1 won over H43 Lund 1 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Damer Junior 96-98.
