In addition to Rimbo HK Roslagen, 23 other teams played in Herrar Junior 96-98. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Rimbo HK Roslagen could be found in Group 2 together with H 65 Höör 1, Trelleborg HBK, Åhus Handboll 3, IFK Kristianstad 1, Uppsala HK 2, IK Lågan Hörby, Skara HK, Åhus Handboll 2, GF Kroppskultur Uddevalla, Borlänge HK 1 and Näsby Handboll.

Rimbo HK Roslagen continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 5:th place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Uppsala HK 1 with 7-9. In the Final, IFK Kristianstad 1 won over Halmstad Handboll and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Herrar Junior 96-98.
