In addition to the two Trelleborg teams, 58 other teams played in Pojkar 2002. They were divided into 6 different groups, whereof Trelleborg Handbollsklubb 1 could be found in Group 6 together with Mönsterås HK, Kävlinge HK 1, Åhus Handboll 3, Uppsala HK 3, H43 Lund HF Big Ballers, Halmstad Handboll 3, IFK Tumba HK 1, Hammarby IF HF 3 and Vetlanda HF 1.

Trelleborg Handbollsklubb 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 2:nd place in Group 6. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against IFK Kristianstad 2 with 10-11. In the Final, H43 Lund HF migogang won over IK Sävehof 2 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2002.
