In addition to the two Åhus teams, 68 other teams played in Pojkar 2002 B1. They were divided into 7 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll 1 could be found in Group 5 together with Alingsås HK 1, HK Aranäs Kungsbacka 3, IFK Bankeryd 2, Vetlanda HF 3, H43 Lund 1, HK Ankaret Bjärred 2, Norrköpings HK 1, HK Björnen Sjöbo and IFK Kristianstad 5.

Åhus Handboll 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 1:st place in Group 5. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Kristianstad HK 1 with 10-11. In the Final, H43 Lund 1 won over H43 Lund 4 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2002 B1.
