In addition to Karlskrona Handboll, 23 other teams played in Herrar Junior 96-98. They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Karlskrona Handboll could be found in Group 1 together with Åhus Handboll 1, Halmstad Handboll, IFK Kristianstad 2, IFK Tumba Sthlm, Kävlinge HK, H 65 Höör 2, Uppsala HK 1, HK Ankaret, Huddinge HK Sthlm, Ystads IF HF and HK Hök Laholm.

Karlskrona Handboll continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 7:th place in Group 1. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Uppsala HK 2 with 9-10. In the Final, IFK Kristianstad 1 won over Halmstad Handboll and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Herrar Junior 96-98.
