In addition to the three Åhus teams, 64 other teams played in Flickor 2002 B1. They were divided into 7 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll 2 could be found in Group 5 together with Spånga HK Stockholm 2, IFK Tumba Sthlm 2, H 65 Höör 3, LUGI HF 1, Eslövs IK 2, Näsby Handboll 1, Borlänge HK 4, Karlskrona Handboll 1 and IFK Karlsborg.

Åhus Handboll 2 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 4:th place in Group 5. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against Uppsala HK 2 with 5-9. In the Final, HK Silwing/Troja Sthlm won over Kärra HF Göteborg and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Flickor 2002 B1.
