In addition to the two Åhus teams, 48 other teams played in Pojkar 2000 A1. They were divided into 5 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll 1 could be found in Group 1 together with IK Cyrus JKöping, Borlänge HK, Uppsala HK 2, Rimbo HK Roslagen, Skånela IF Märsta, IFK Kristianstad 2, Ystads IF HF 2, Bromölla AIK and OV Helsingborg HK.

Åhus Handboll 1 continued to C-Slutspel after reaching 10:th place in Group 1. In the playoff they made it to Semi final, but lost it against Karlskrona Handboll 3 with 8-14. In the Final, Ystads IF HF 2 won over Karlskrona Handboll 3 and became the winner of C-Slutspel in Pojkar 2000 A1.
