In addition to the two Halmstad teams, 64 other teams played in Pojkar 2001 B2. They were divided into 7 different groups, whereof Halmstad Handboll 2 could be found in Group 2 together with Karlskrona Handboll 1, Rimbo HK Roslagen, Eslövs HF 2, IFK Kristianstad 2, Alingsås HK 2, Växjö HF 1, HK Silwing/Troja Sthlm and Åhus Handboll 1.

Halmstad Handboll 2 made it to A-Slutspel after reaching 1:st place in Group 2. Once in the playoff they won every match inluding the Final against Uppsala HK 3, which they won with 10-7. Thereby Halmstad Handboll 2 won the entire A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2001 B2 during Åhus Beachhandboll Festival 2016.
