In addition to the three Åhus teams, 63 other teams played in Pojkar 2001 B2. They were divided into 7 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll 1 could be found in Group 2 together with Karlskrona Handboll 1, Rimbo HK Roslagen, Halmstad Handboll 2, Eslövs HF 2, IFK Kristianstad 2, Alingsås HK 2, Växjö HF 1 and HK Silwing/Troja Sthlm.

Åhus Handboll 1 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 2:nd place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against Eslövs HF 3 with 11-13. In the Final, Halmstad Handboll 2 won over Uppsala HK 3 and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2001 B2.
