In addition to the four Åhus teams, 56 other teams played in Pojkar 2001 A1. They were divided into 6 different groups, whereof Åhus Handboll 3 could be found in Group 2 together with IFK Kristianstad 4, Enköpings HF 2, Karlskrona Handboll 2, HK Aranäs Kungsbacka, IK Sund Helsingborg, IFK Tumba Sthlm 1, IK Bolton Sthlm, Lindeskolans IF and H43 Lund 2.

Åhus Handboll 3 continued to A-Slutspel after reaching 3:rd place in Group 2. In the playoff they made it to 1/8 Final, but lost it against Enköpings HF 1 with 8-10. In the Final, Enköpings HF 1 won over Borlänge HK and became the winner of A-Slutspel in Pojkar 2001 A1.

Åhus Handboll also participated in Pojkar 2001 B2 during Åhus Beachhandboll Festival 2016. They reached the 1/8 Final in P01 A-Slutspel, but lost it against Borlänge HK with 5-15.
